How to report a file that infringes your copyright

Files on Sfile are uploaded by users. We respect the rights of copyright holders and remove files that infringe them when we receive a valid notice.

How to send a notice

  • On the file's page, press Report file and choose Copyright infringement; or
  • email [email protected] with the subject "DMCA notice". One email can list many files.

What a notice must contain

  1. The copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
  2. The link of every file page on sfile.co that you want removed (for example https://sfile.co/AbCdEf12345).
  3. Your name, and an email address or other way to reach you.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  5. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the owner, or authorised to act for the owner, of the right that is infringed.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).

What happens next

We review every notice. When it is valid, the file is disabled: it can no longer be downloaded and its page answers with HTTP 451 (Unavailable For Legal Reasons). We keep a record of each takedown.

Counter-notice

If your file was removed and you believe that was a mistake, reply to the same address with the link of the file, the reason you believe it was removed in error, and your contact details. The data of a removed file is kept for 30 days after the takedown and deleted permanently after that, so a counter-notice must arrive within that time for the file to be restored.

Repeat infringers

Accounts that repeatedly upload infringing files may be banned, as set out in our Terms of Service.

Other problems
